Well friends, summer is just about coming to a close after a some great weather which maybe didn't help the fishing so much but has certainly led to lots of new members joining the club and getting out on the bank, providing us with some great fishing stories.
Although the Avon has been lower than usual, gin-clear for months and in some areas the weed has had a field day we have had some superb sport on the Stratford AA stretches. Barbel up to 14lb at The Seven Meadows and Hampton Lucy brook, loads of small pike up to 7-8lb and a few double figure fish including one fish close to 20lb on the Seven Meadows and plenty more predators up to 10lb down Little Luddington farm, we also had unconfirmed reports of a 20lb plus fish down Manor Farm at the site of the old lock.
Some decent chub have come out too, top fish we have heard of being just under 7lb, Bream up to 6lb in some huge catches at Little Luddington farm with more Bream reportedly showing at Manor Farm in numbers , predator anglers of which we have many are being spoilt on our waters with some cracking perch being caught including a brace of 2.5lb plus fish coming out of the Stannells on peg 2.
Top match catch on our water was Pete Mace with 50 lb plus from peg 31 on the seven meadows.
So most anglers know that autumn is a great time to fish the Avon, water temperatures begin to drop, cold-blooded coarse fish instinctively sense that the winter months are approaching and they have metabolisms that are still active enough to require fuel, they go on a feeding mission to pack on weight and build up fat reserves before the cold truly sets in so get your rods out as the rain puts colour into the river, while summer fish can be hard to tempt during the glaring sun, autumn often triggers reliable, predictable midday-to-afternoon feeding spells (roughly 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM) when the water warms just a degree or two, it's definitely this anglers favourite time of year on the rivers

A REMINDER : NO NIGHT FISHING ON CLUB WATERS
Any member caught fishing during the hours of darkness on club waters will be banned, for clarity, night is when it is dark, that is not dusk, splitting hairs over what constitutes 'night fishing' will not assist you, if you need a torch to see, it can probably be considered to be 'during the hours of darkness'.
We are aware of videos posted on youtube showing activity on club waters during the hours of darkness, this has resulted in an increase in reports of night fishing taking place at the brook and the seven meadows in direct contradiction to the rules we have to adhere to with the landowners and licensing authorities.
If you feel entitled enough to continue to fish during the hours of darkness and are caught by our night patrols you will be banned from the association and all association waters.
ILLEGAL FISHING AT HAMPTON LUCY BROOK
Here at the SAA we try to make our membership as cost effective as possible, we lease the waters on behalf of our members and we pay for this by selling licences and on some waters day tickets.
At £40 for 52 weeks fishing that works out at just over 75 pence per week and we have set up online payment to make it easier and convenient for our members
It is therefore extremely disheartening when we get reports of, or catch people fishing without a licence, It cannot be worth the embarrassment of being caught illegally fishing, spending your time waiting for someone to come along and ask to see your membership card and to have to pretend you don't know the rules or worse still don't care about them, this also applies to ripping our signs down and throwing them in the undergrowth and claiming to not know fishing the water requires a licence, do us a favour, just join another club, we don't want you in ours.
If any member sees a car parked outside of the gate at Hampton Lucy Brook then please take a picture of the car and give us an email and we will come to the water, anyone caught will be named and shamed on this site.
Online payments Debit / Credit Card, Paypal, Googlepay and Applepay
We are live with online payment for day tickets via paypal, debit / credit card and Applepay, both for same day tickets if your going fishing right now or booking in advance.
A visiting angler can book a ticket to the Seven Meadows or get an existing member to buy a guest day ticket for any Stratford Angling Association water (except Hampton Lucy Brook which is for full members only to fish, this is only available from the shops at this time.
For this year we have introduced a 2 week holiday pass across all Stratford AA waters (except Hampton Lucy Brook) which you can purchase online only, click here to access the booking page, anyone can book this ticket you do not have to be a member.
When you have booked a day ticket or 2 week pass you will get a confirmation via email and a receipt too, plus an SMS text message on your phone, If you are booking Sameday tickets you will not get an SMS reminder (as your booking to fish right now).
We will be aware of your booking and whilst your fishing you can access your phone to show our bailiffs proof of purchase, they will already have a record of you on their phones when they greet you at our waters.
One big change we are going to introduce is to allow purchasers of this 2 week 'holiday' pass to park at the riverside down on the seven meadows, saving you a load of cash if you want to fish the Stratford Upon Avon Angling Associations Seven Meadows town centre water.
Environment - Litter...
We politly ask you to take your litter home with you when you have fished our waters, this junk was left immediately below the seven meadows weir on Sunday 6th September, if you see some litter please help us and the environment by picking it up and taking it home with you, anyone caught leaving litter will be banned from all club waters.

We know things are tough out there for everyone so we have held our prices at the same level this year to encourage you to join us on the riverbank ... tight lines to all !
