Little Luddington Farm

Stratford AA's lesser used stretch of the Avon at Luddington, deeper and slower, great for bream, a peaceful gem of a venue !

Fishing Luddington Stratford Upon Avon

Little Luddington farm can be found half way down Luddington Road, a single meadow with around 17 swims, the water has a deeper slower feel to it, more or or less stationary on the inside line with a fair depth so good for the pole, feeder and waggler.

Platforms enable comfortable fishing, the downstream end of the water is a little shallower with good reed beds for some excellent stick float down the side opportunities and plenty of silver fish as well as predator action but in recent times the upstream and middle sections  have become well known for large shoals of Bream often falling to pole and feeder tactics.

Please be aware there are overhead power lines half way down the section so careful with those rods and poles !

Non Fishy Facts

The name Luddington is of Anglo-Saxon origin meaning Luda's farmstead. There is a strong belief that William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway in the original All Saints chapel in Luddington in 1582.

There are no records anywhere of Shakespeares marriage and sadly the original Chapel, and all of its records, burnt down during the 19th century.

One of the black and white timber framed cottages garden at the foot of the village near Manor Farm (now named The Old House). is believed to be the site of the original church.
